Templates

Curated allowlist of Synthesia templates supported by the video pipeline.

This file documents the 34 template IDs intentionally allowed in Fraya and explains how to choose among them. At runtime, the workflow still fetches template metadata (title, description, variables) from Synthesia itself and filters that live catalog against this curated set — see workflow.md.

Slide coding system

Template names encode their slide structure. Each character = one slide:

CodeSlide typeUsed for
AAvatar — talking-headIntro, outro, speaker-led narration
FFree text / summarySynthesis, conclusion, open-ended explanation
IConceptual diagramVisualisable models (pyramids, cycles, frameworks)
TTwo-column comparisonDo/don't, before/after, option A vs B
18Numbered list (N items)Principles, steps, rules
QKey statement (no script)In-between framing, question, quotation

Reading examples:

  • A-4-A — intro avatar → 4-item list → closing avatar
  • A-3-1-1-1 — intro → 3-item overview → 3 elaboration slides (one per point)
  • A-I-I-I-F — intro → 3 diagram zones explored one by one → summary
  • A-Q-T-A — intro → framing question → do/don't comparison → outro

Selection rules

  1. Match concept count — use the variants table below.
  2. Match concept type — list vs. narrative vs. visual.
  3. Use I slides only for genuinely visualisable models (Maslow's pyramid, Eisenhower Matrix, circular process). Do not use for random illustrations.
  4. Short video (video_length = short) → pick a 2–3 slide template. Avoid detailed multi-step templates.
  5. Q slides are for framing only — a question or statement with no voiceover. Not for content delivery.
  6. Prefer F for content that requires synthesis or conclusion.
  7. Avoid long 1-1-1-1-1 chains beyond 5 — they slow pacing. Use grouped templates instead.
  8. For 6 or 8 points, use grouped templates (3+3, 4+4) rather than a single long list.
